Hermanas Unidas de UCLA volunteers their time to Los Angeles and neighboring areas as a part of our second pillar, Community Service. Throughout the year, we collaborate with nonprofit organizations such as The Compton Initiative and participate in events like the AIDS walk in order to bring about positive change and give back to our communities. Apart from these yearly events, our Community Service Chair works hard to organize internal events for our community here at UCLA as well as the surrounding areas. The Community Service Chair aims to provide our Hermanas with many opportunities to give back by arranging events throughout the year that accommodate those that cannot make it out to our bigger events. These events include, but are not limited to, creating hygiene care packages for women’s shelters, beach clean ups, food drives, and campus tours. We also head an Outreach Program created by Hermanas Unidas with intentions to service our communities further. Not only do we gain valuable experience, we empower our communities through our hands-on interaction. We hope you join us in one of our many community outreach events this year.
