Honestly, spring break was way too short! But I made the best of it and made some great memories with my friends and family. I went to Mexico for a couple of days to visit my family and go to my aunts wedding in Chipilo, Puebla. I hadn’t seen my family from my moms side since like 2 years ago so when I found out about the wedding I was super excited! It was interesting because the people from Chipilo are of Italian descent and my aunt’s husband is from there so now we have some Italians added to our family. Even though this town is in Mexico I saw how they keep their Italian traditions alive and was able to experience some of it. Aside from that, I got to spend time with my cousins and we went on a trip to el centro de Puebla during the night to a café where they had live music and good vibes. I felt like this is what I needed after having such a stressful quarter at school. The next day the whole family and I went around Puebla visiting it’s historical and popular places before my sister and I left back to the U.S. and come back to reality. I had a few more days of break left so I spent time with my best friends after not seeing them since winter break. It felt so great just going out to eat, chilling at their house, and going out to bars with them. I’m sad I probably won’t see them until after spring quarter ends but I love how we still have these strong friendships no matter how long we go without seeing or talking to each other. I think my most favorite part of break was being with my parents, sister, and dogs though. Everyday I miss them while I’m away at school but I know they’re always supporting me and are one call away whenever I need them.
